Also, computer players are very unnerving to me, and I think it may be because they play instantaneously. And humans are never that quick, because at the very least they have to move the mouse.

I guess I've sort of won enough games that my rank of 12k-13k is solid. This is really weird, because I seemingly just had a 6 kyu jump without anything really happening to warrant it.

I dunno what is up. Maybe I've just had a bunch of very improbable games that have been reinforced by people forfeiting.

I lost this game, but I did two things in it that were pretty good. At move 262ish I took some stuff on the left, and then even cooler at 280 when I took over some of the stuff on the bottom right.

I definitely should have killed the n6 group in order to have won, though.

This game ended in a draw. I tried to battle an invasion in the upper right corner and couldn't kill it, but the fight ended up in seki. I was still happy that I managed to make life, even if it wasn't the best outcome.

My opponent is one of the people I play Go with at the coffee house, so that was fun.

The move he did at 87 is probably what you should have done at 86.

When you have those big squarish spaces with one little nub off to a side or whatever, you tend to make that nub into an eye, and then treat your giant space as a big eye. Then you only have to worry about your opponent creating an eye and living in seki.

Also, I'm very suprised that that happened to you. I don't know if I've really had seki in any my games.

Yes, that was a very good game. You seem to be weak on defending your own territory from invasion, though.

46 was fantastic.

A lot of the stuff that you were doing on the left was really above what I thought was your skill level.

Another good game!

I'm going back to 4 stones now.

This game was interesting because I felt immediately like I was playing in a much different way. He had taught me about some different formations and strategies so I was trying to put them in action.

I was actually a bit too confident, though, as I made some really retarded oversights and kept looking at things wrong, like when I tried to invade the lower right corner, and when I was wanting to do a snapback in the upper right.

Yes, that was a completely different game. His play also seemed more aggressive, so it's very good that you won.

Also, experimenting with attacks is good. Sometimes I attack things just for practice. It's definitely one of my weakest skills.

The 19x19 board is more fun. There's also a really weak bot you can play if you're shy playing a human. Although honestly I've only had one person on KGS be outright rude. Other than that the worst you get is people that leave games. Which is something you need to consider personally since your connection seems like it's flakey. If you leave too many games you get labeled as an escaper, and then when you start leaving games it marks it as a forfeit.

I guess ranked games with people you know will work out, though.

Ive been playing on the 19x19 board lately, and there's definitely a bit of a learning curve to it.

I started off at 9 stones, then went to 8 stones with the person I usually play with, but then I had to go back to 9 because he improved and I haven't. I also beat another person by about 15 points playing 8 stones, so if I beat her a couple more times I can probably play her at 7.

I really need to start playing ranked games on KGS just to see where it puts me. I should probably start playing on KGS anyway. I need practice against a bigger variety of people. I get comfortable with a familiar opponent playing in a certain way, and then I play someone else and they play something I'm not used to in the opening, and I choke up.

I've also had a problem managing my anger during games recently. The frustration stems from losing big groups or territory due to lack of foresight, stupid moves, or not counting liberties in a liberty battle, which results in my not being able to stay calm and move on.

I got so pissed in a game earlier today. I lost a group because I didn't count liberties. I was ready to move on from that, but then I played a move that was too small when I had sente and my opponent took the opportunity to spike into my center. I got so raged that he was trying to infiltrate my "best" territory, and then I didn't properly defend it, and I started making really horrible, quick, responsive moves. Before I knew it, the board looked like complete shit and I basically had no territory. I had to resign.

The game I had after I calmed down was much better, though. I still lost by like 35 points, because I made some mistakes in corner territories I was trying to establish, but I took the time to think and actually made a couple great moves. One was sneaking in and reducing a territory, the other I had read out which resulted in territory he was trying to establish being destroyed. It's always such a great feeling when something I try actually works, instead of me being greedy and not reading things out properly.
