We've been using an IRC chatroom because AIM was too terrible to us. The server is irc.techwarelabs.com; the channel is #ftusa. Here is how you can join.

IRC at work
This is the easiest way to join. Basically you visit a webpage and are chatting immediately. Enter a nickname (it would be helpful if it was something recognizable), leave the server field as it is, and enter #ftusa for the channel, and (if it works) it's that easy. Cons: Looks shitty, kicked us all out at least once

Chatzilla
This is pretty easy too. Hopefully everyone is using Firefox at this point because otherwise this won't work. Click the link above, then click the install link, and then you'll probably have to restart and it'll be installed. The installation process is easily reversible and extremely safe, being a Firefox extension. Once it's installed, go to Tools >> Chatzilla to bring up the window, then type /attach irc.techwarelabs.com to connect to the server.

Mirc
Install the software, use it to connect. The least simple option but still simple as hell. If you don't mind installing this then you probably won't mind IMing me with issues that can probably be resolved within five seconds.

These are not the only three options, and if you know other obscure ones then you should probably use them to join and show off your knowledge, that'll show me.

Basic commands:

/nick HorribleFatNigger - Changes your name to HorribleFatNigger. No spaces are allowed.
/join #ftusa - Joins channel #ftusa.
/msg SammyTheFaggotRetard hey sam can u cum over? :-* Flirts with user SammyTheFaggotRetard.

I just did it.

It was a blast!

It's really just two steps, once you have Chatzilla installed (which takes about 8 seconds).

You just click this: irc://irc.techwarelabs.com
Then type: /join #ftusa

That second step is kind of a nightmare, because man, why can't it be just ONE CLICK? but still.

You can set up Chatzilla to automatically join #ftusa on connecting to the server. Also, you can save irc://irc.techwarelabs.com as a bookmark, and put it on the toolbar.

One click!
